This week marks the first official week of fall, and while the weather outside may not quite feel like it yet, soon it’ll be time to break out the sweaters and blankets. But fall at Harmony Farm is more than just about changing weather. In fact, it’s is one of our favorite times of the year at the farm! Here are just a few things you can expect from a fall visit to Harmony Farm:
Walk Among the Autumn Leaves
We’ve bragged before about our miles of private walking and riding trails (we can’t help it!), but imagine those same trails on a brisk autumn morning with the leaves of the trees painted in the colors of fall. There’s nothing like taking a long walk on a fall day, especially if it means sightseeing some amazing fall foliage. Our recommendation? Pack a thermos of coffee for the trail and bring your four-legged friends to keep you company on the trail. It doesn’t get any better than that!
A Hot Meal Al Fresco
It’s no secret that one of our favorite features at Harmony Farm is our outdoor venues, be it our classic Southern-style porch or our screened in gazebo. Both are the perfect setting for a warm home cooked meal, which is easy to achieve at the farm. Our fully equipped kitchen makes it easy to create your favorite autumn meals right here at the farm. Whether you pack a basket of ingredients, pick up some staples at Gibbes Country Store down the road or even fish for your dinner in one of our stocked ponds, there’s always a way to make a delicious, romantic dinner to enjoy under the stars.
Once we Mississippians have survived the summer heat, all we want to do is get out in the beautiful fall weather and celebrate. How do we do it? With festivals, of course! One of our favorites is the Vicksburg Festival just a short drive from Harmony Farm. The festival features live music, children’s activities, sidewalk sales, vendors from the Vicksburg Farmer’s Market, paintings by artist Ricky Noble, and plenty more.
Check out this list of all the festivals, Oktoberfests, and more happening around the state this season!
