Football in the South means one thing: tailgating! Whether you run with the Ole Miss Rebels, roll with the Crimson Tide, or root for the LSU Tigers, Harmony Farm is the perfect spot to stay while hitting up some of the South’s biggest tailgating party spots.
Ole Miss – Oxford, MS
One of, if not the biggest tailgating destinations in college football takes place at Ole Miss. The game day tradition takes place in the middle of campus in Ole Miss’s famed Grove, a 10-acre tree-strewn “quad” where any true Rebels flock before any home game. But don’t think this is a casual affair; people take their tailgating attire seriously. Women don dresses and the men rock their best blazers. People outdo each other by setting up tents with some of the best of the South’s food and refreshments, and in the tradition of Southern Hospitality everyone’s welcome to visit anyone’s tent.
Louisiana State University – Baton Rouge, LA
The LSU Tigers in Baton Rouge know how to throw a game day party. But what sets LSU’s tailgating apart is the food. True to its cajun and creole roots, LSU fans serve up some of the best game day cuisine west of the Mississippi River. Baton Rouge is also known for its bar scene, and many tailgaters take advantage of that by spending their pre-game time making the rounds.
University of Alabama – Tuscaloosa, AL
On game days Crimson Tide fans flock to the Bryant-Denny Stadium parking lot, but the tailgating party is often so large it leaks out into the streets of Downtown Tuscaloosa and all across the UA campus. If you’re not at the tailgate on game day in Tuscaloosa you might as well stay home. Fans take over the town and trying to get anywhere is impossible. But what makes game days so exciting is the passion of Crimson Tide fans. You might as well join in the fun!
